Custom Sprigging Bermuda grass will establish a dense root system which holds onto the soil.   No-Till Drilling plants winter hardy grasses directly into existing ground cover without exposing bare soil to wind and water erosion.  See the chart below for a list of custom services and prices.

 

 
Text Box: The District oversees the operations and maintenance of 37 flood control structures throughout Hughes County. These structures protect provide protection for 188,599 acres. They were designed with an original life span expectancy of 50 years. The oldest of these structures will be reaching that age by 2008. The district is working with state and federal agencies to find solutions for rehabilitation of these structures.

The District works with other agencies and organizations to provide outreach and information to the citizens of Hughes County.  Some of these programs include:  Women in Agriculture seminars, Cedar Eradication & Utilization workshops and Cost-Share programs.

The District provides environmental education through several programs including:  Outdoor Classrooms, Natural Resource Days, Earth Day activities, Fair booths, Club presentations and contests.   These programs reach over 1,000 people each year ranging from school age children to adults.

The District has several types of rental equipment to help landowners keep down over head costs.   The benefit to landowners is that it saves in repair costs, insurance premiums and equipment depreciation.  See the chart below for a list of rental equipment and prices.
